Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Are all orders custom designed, or do you stock some of your cookies? We do not stock any of our designs. All orders are custom designed through consultation with our clients and baked fresh to order.
  2. How are cookies and cakes priced? The price of a cookie depends not only on the size of the cookie but also on the amount of hand decorated details. Prices typically range from $7 to $10 per favor, but each cookie or cake is priced individually, depending on the complexity of the design.  Cakes are also priced according to the amount of work required to complete the design.  Fondant, handmade flowers, characters and the size of the cake all contribute to the cost of a cake.
  3. Can you make cakes and cookies to suit a theme?Yes, that’s the main appeal of Bake A Wish.  We are able to design cookies and cakes for almost any theme you’d like.  Take a look at our gallery to see some examples; from children’s parties, to landmark birthdays, and many other holidays and special occasions. For Custom Cookie Orders: Create your own one-of-a-kind hand decorated cookies with any design your heart desires. We make custom cookie cutters, so the possibilities are endless.
  4. How can I use a special photograph?  We can print almost any photograph on cookies using edible ink in the printer and icing sheets instead of paper!  The details of your photo can then be embellished by hand and a colorful border will finish it off for a one of a kind cookie.
  5. How do I place an order? To inquire about our cookies or to place an order, please contact me  by email or by telephone at (561) 586-5092.
  6. How much time do you need to prepare?  Since every cookie or cake is custom designed and made by hand, we need as much time as possible to complete the most detailed and beautiful creations.  Also, due to the extent of the work involved, we can only accept a certain number of commissions at a time in order to give each the attention it deserves.  As far as ordering goes, we like to get you on the production calendar as soon as possible.  Therefore, the earlier you place an order, the better; generally 4 weeks for cookie orders of more than 2 dozen and two weeks for smaller orders.  A large cake with elaborate details requires at least 3 weeks.
  7. If I place my order too far in advance won’t the cookies be stale by the time I get them? No, we bake and ship all orders right before their delivery date.
  8. What if I need to cancel an order?  Because so much work goes into the planning and design of each order, we cannot accept any cancellations within 10 days of delivery.  Any changes in orders within 10 days of delivery can only be considered on a case by case basis.
  9. Do I need to pay in advance?  We require a 50% deposit at the time the order is placed to reserve space on our production schedule. Final counts are not required until 2 to 4 weeks before the delivery date. The final 50% is charged when you receive your order.
  10. Can I get a refund if I cancel my order? Because we spend so much time creating custom designs and much of the preparation is done far in advance refunds can only be made up to 2 weeks before delivery with a deduction for the design fee and any special goods already ordered.   Since we can only accept a limited number of orders at a time, there can be no refunds within 10 days of delivery.
  11. Can you ship cookies? Yes, we have shipped cookies all over the country and even internationally!  There is an additional charge for packaging ($.50 per cookie) and shipping (actual cost).  Each cookie is wrapped individually in bubble wrap (cookies 3″ and larger) then placed inside a box which is lined with more bubble wrap. We use a combination of recycled peanuts, packing paper and bubble wrap to keep your cookies super safe during transit.
  12. What if my cookies do not arrive? You will be notified by email, if we are provided with an incorrect address or the package is refused by the recipient and returned to us. We can not refund your money for incorrect shipping information or packages refused by recipients. If we put an incorrect address on the box, we will refund your purchase, or ship a new package at no charge to you.
  13. What is the difference between decorated cookies and photo cookies? Decorated cookies are cookies which are iced by hand with several layers and colors of royal icing. The royal icing is colored by hand and applied to the cookie. Due to the time spent on mixing the various colors and meticulously adding details on each cookie, these cookies are normally more expensive than photo cookies. Photo cookies contain the same ingredients as our decorated cookies. These cookies have an edible image printed on high quality frosting sheets with food coloring (FDA approved). Our special 6-inkjet produces extremely clear images. Most of our logo cookies are made with our photo cookies. Any logo, scanned image, photograph, book cover, etc. can be used. There are no set-up fees and we can even add wording for no extra charge. Photo cookie pricing depends solely on the size and shape and any added embellishments. Whatever image you decide to use will not alter the price. Our standard shapes are square, round and rectangle.
  14. What are the ingredients in your decorated cookies? Our treats are hand-made and baked from scratch. Even our royal icing recipe is made fresh several times everyday (our own recipe). We use quality ingredients like real butter, cage-free eggs and pure vanilla extract (no shortening or margarine) When we say baked fresh, we mean “baked fresh”. Our goal is to make cookies that you can be proud to give your guests not only because they are beautiful but also because they taste fantastic. Our decorated cookies ingredients are: Flour, sugar, butter, eggs, powdered sugar, baking powder, real vanilla extract and salt.  Our photo cookies ingredients are the same as above with the addition of these ingredients found in the frosting sheets: water, cornstarch, corn syrup, corn syrup solids, cellulose, sorbitol, glycerine, sugar vegetable oil, arabic gum, polysorbate 80, vanilla, Titanium Dioxide, Citric Acid.  Our Royal Icing (which is used in all of our decorated and photo cookies) ingredients are: Powdered sugar, meringue powder, cream of tartar and some artificial colors.
  15. Do your cookies contain preservatives? Our sugar cookies contain no preservatives. This is why they have a shelf life of 1 month (if they remain wrapped), for best taste we recommend eating them within 1-2 weeks of receiving them.  However, if you want to save them as a keepsake, we have found they maintain their colors and shapes indefinitely.
  16. Do your cookies contain peanuts or traces of peanuts? Neither our sugar cookies nor icing contain peanuts. However, one of our icing ingredients has an allergy warning label (it is used in a factory that shares equipment with peanuts and other nuts). We prefer the “better safe than sorry” idiom and recommend that people with food allergies not consume our products.
  17. How do your cookies come wrapped? Is there an additional fee for this? All of our cookies come wrapped in individual clear cello bags (biodegradable cello bags will soon be available!) and tied with several strands of curling ribbon.  You have many, many colors to choose from. There is NO EXTRA CHARGE for the wrapping or the ribbon. It is included in the price of the cookies!
  18. Is there a minimum order? Our minimum for our hand-decorated cookies is 12 cookies, but you may order as few as 4 per type provided the colors used on all cookies does not exceed 4 colors. Example: You order 4 bibs, 4 onesies, 4 baby bottles and 4 baby carriages in white and pink.  Our minimum cupcake order is one dozen and the smallest cake we bake serves 12 to 15 people.
  19. Do you accept returns or exchanges? Sorry, since our cookies are made to order and perishable, we do not accept returns or exchanges.
